WHES has a great art program conducted by our art teacher, Mrs. Martin. She answered some of our questions about her inspirations, advice, and what she likes about teaching art. We learned a lot about her, and realized that a lot goes into being an art teacher.

 

Q: What is your favorite thing about being an art teacher?

A: Teaching future artists

 

Q: Where do you get your inspiration for your projects?

A: People, music, films, other art teachers, and other artists, everything and everyone around me.

 

Q:  What’s your favorite project you do with your students?

A:   4th grade sugar skulls inspired by Frida Kahlo.

 

 

Q: What’s your advice to be a good artist?

A:  Always remember “Creativity takes courage.” – Henri Matisse

 

Q: What inspired you to become an art teacher?

A: My grandma. She was very into arts and crafts.

 

After interviewing our art teacher, we learned that her main goal is to inspire her students, and that she loves that she gets the opportunity to teach the future of art. Now, hopefully you see a new side to our art teacher, and where she gets her creativity from. If you ever want to be an art teacher like her, take inspiration from all around you, and most important, stay courageous and creative!
