At Woodbury Heights a safety’s job is to make sure children are safe.

In the morning the safeties raise the flags, wait for the kids in the hallway, and stay at the doors while the students enter the building.

At recess, safeties report if the kids are fighting or get hurt. They also watch the fields and make sure students don’t go in the street or parking lot.

At the end of the day, safeties also go down to preschool, kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and take down the flag.  They help with dismissal for the younger students, and walk some of them to SafeKeep.

Near the end of the school year the safeties take a field trip to a sports place called Rastelli’s for most of the day. One safety named Sophia says she likes having K-1 the best because they listen when she talks and they give her hugs.  Other students work with 2-3 grade recess and 4-6 grade recess.
