Home and School Association Helps Heights

Haley, News

The Home and School Association at Woodbury Heights Elementary School has been quietly working behind the scenes all year to make your year awesome! Do you know what the community members of the Home and School do? No? Well here are some examples!

The Home and School Association (HSA) fundraises, plans, and runs events for the students and staff of WHES to enjoy. Recently, I interviewed Mrs. Monk and Mrs. Fernandez of the HSA. One of their favorite events of the year was the Sweetheart Dance. They had to get and make decorations, plan a theme, ask the parents to donate baked goods, and talk with DJ’s and photo booths for decent prices. There’s a lot of work that goes into our successful school events!

Throughout the year, the HSA conducts fundraisers to earn money so that they can spend it on their favorite students, the WHES community! Some fundraisers include coin drops, the Winter Social, and Spirit Wear sales. They also pay for assemblies, plans events, raises money for STEAM, and paid for the author to visit from our ‘One School, One Book’ initiative.
