The Candymakers written by Wendy Mass is a story filled with many fun adventures and plot twists!  Many people enjoyed the first and second book which is called, The Great Chocolate Chase. The author wrote a very good piece and she took hundreds of kids on a thrilling adventure full of surprises!

This book is made for ages 9 and up. This book is about four children, Logan, Miles, Daisy and Phillip. They all meet at “Life Is Sweet Candy Factory” to compete in a national candy-making competition. One of the rules the reader will find that is that the characters MUST make something candy-based and not a pastry or cake. Daisy tried to make a taffy based-product but it turned into goop.  The contestants face off in a battle to make the best candy, but soon do they realize that things are not what they thought they were, at all.

While reading the four different parts, or perspectives, is about each contestant’s life that we don’t see. Each chapter contains additional insight and information from the characters’ perspective. Each character is different from the rest, such as Phillip compared to Miles. They each live a completely different life than most people expected. Wendy Mass did good with creating these characters.  She added different and interesting things about all of the characters, even the characters that aren’t relatively important .
Wendy Mass has made many other books other than The CandyMakers. Such as  her Willow Falls series starting with 11 Birthdays and ending with Graceful. She has made books such as Jeremy Fink and the Meaning Of Life which got produced into a movie. Some more fan favorite’s are A Mango- Shaped Space, The Great Chocolate Case which is the second book of The Candymakers and Every Soul a Star.  If you are a person who likes adventures and plot twists, then The CandyMakers is just for you!
