The 2016 Summer Olympics were hosted in Rio de Jenaro, Brazil. Team USA earned 121 medals overall:  46 gold medals, 37 slivers, 38 bronzes.  The 2016 summer Olympics had 28 sports, 300 events, and over 10,000 athletes trying to win gold!

The strongest members of Team USA were: Simone Biles in gymnastics, Michael Phelps in men’s swimming, Katie Ledecky in women’s swimming, Kerri Jennings in beach volleyball. Usain Bolt won a lot of gold on the track and he won gold for Jamaica.

The Olympics has been around since 776 B.C., but many people think that it has been around for centuries even before that. Some sports have age limits; like gymnastics and you have to be at least 16 years old. But a sport like men’s basketball has no age limit. This year’s Olympics lasted 16 days.

The 2020 Summer Olympics will be held in Tokyo. Did you like the Olympics this year?
